Homecare Funding

How much does homecare cost and am I eligible for support from the Council?

Everybody’s personal circumstances will be different and so it is difficult to give a blanket answer to this, but there are effectively three forms of care:

  • Local Authority /Council Funded Care – You may be eligible for full funding by the local authority, in our case West Sussex County Council, and they will recommend a care package to meet your needs following an initial assessment. We work closely with the local authority and will carry out a further assessment of your needs if we are appointed. The local authority will determine the amount of time, frequency of visits and so on and then ask us to work with you to determine the best way of delivering this care. In most cases, they will give us plenty of latitude to ensure the timing of our visits works for you and is not too prescriptive.
  • Privately Funded Care – This may be a personal decision to seek some support at home or you may not be eligible for funding. From 30-minute calls to overnight care, we will provide a flexible and personalised level of care to meet your needs. Our homecare visits start from £18.98 per hour and there is no retainer or lengthy agreement. We are extremely responsive and can typically have a care package set up within a matter of hours from the initial call. We will carry out an assessment and create a plan that works for you and that we are able to commit to.
  • Hybrid ‘Top-Up’ care – A combination of the above. You receive funding for a specific care package but would like some additional support. We can work together to determine which aspects of care are covered by the local authority and which elements will be privately funded.  As with our fully privately funded homecare, our rates start at £18.98/hour and we can offer everything from 30 minutes to full days of support.

If you are unsure which option is right for you and would like to discuss your personal circumstances, please call us on 01903 264089 and we will happily provide advice on the delivery and costs of care.  We can also support you in accessing any funding that you may be eligible for.
